EndPCnoisedotcom dudes????

My computer is driving me crazy. It's a Dell Dimension 4600. In theory, it should be a good computer. However, due to years of downloading MP3s and pornography, it's become LOUD and SLOW. I can't deal with this computer anymore - I need something fresh and new.

So what do you guys think of the EndPCnoise computers? I've heard good things on this forum... I think... and I'm willing to take the plunge.

I'm looking at this bad boy:

http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/std/sku=celeron_775.html

I plan on ordering it with one of those Smart Drive Copper things ($70), 1GB ram ($60) and case insulation ($69).

Is this a good deal?

I mostly plan on using it for school work and pornography. I don't play games very often, so I don't think that will be a major factor. I would like to be able to play CounterStrike, so it would be a bonus if this is also a good gaming setup.

Let me know what you guys think.

"pornography"? oh, you mean pr0n.

I picked up one of their high end systems a while ago and talked my company into getting me one for work. They seem pretty good but someone less than competent on a few occasions.

When they put my home system together, they didn't connect the fan speed controller for the video card to the motherboard. This wasn't obvious when I inspected it because the power connector for the fan speed controller was on the same ribbon as the output connector making it appear that it was just an extra fan connector. Needless to say, my $500 video card was toasted. Then, they sent me the wrong card to replace it, a cheaper model of that card. Eventually, I got the right card and all is well with that machine.

On my work system (my company ordered 4 of them, I think) I specified a video card with 2 DVI outs. The web site even said "2 DVI" but those cards actually have one DVI and one VGA out. Now, my company has to get the video cards replaced and I look like a schmuck for recommending them.

You may find the same mistakes with any PC maker so it's hard to say whether or not I'd recommend them.

I just bought a Compaq w/ AMD3800 X64,512 ram ,200 gig hard drive, DVD and CD writer with light scribe, printer, 19 inch wide screen LCD monitor and a router ETC...

walked out of best buy for less than $550 including tax, it is praised by Compaq as being quite , I will say it is as I don't notice the cooling fan or the hard drive noise.

As far as what you want to buy I know nothing about them. It sounds cool but , I don't know if I would want the Celeron D with what has appeared and what the future will require.

I think you could go cheaper but if noise is a big issue you may not be able to. I think in general most comps have gotten quietr .
