Double Bass Engelhardt EM-1

I’m interested in an Engelhardt EM-1 that is listed for sale in my area. The price is $950. I’d appreciate any information out there about this bass. I’m particularly interested in information on the fretboard, tail piece and bridge (I have not seen pieces this black before on other Engels). Curious on everyone’s thoughts and experiences with these basses.

Bridge seems a bit off-cenetred, and action is *much* too high.
Fingerboard is probably white wood stained in black. (not a big issue , as long as its properly dressed)
I'd expect a new bridge, new strings and a good setup from a qualified bass luthier.

The fingerboard and tailpiece were rosewood from the factory. They, along with the bridge, have clearly been dyed. I’d say $950 is a decent price for that bass as it sits.

The button looks broken/split. (picture 7)

That would explain the sky-high action if the neck has pulled forward.

Might need a neck reset and button repair.

With that super high action, I would find out if a neck reset may be needed.

It could be the angle of the photo, but things look a little wonky in picture #3 as well.

Those go for right about $1,000 without issues, I would definitely have that one looked at by a double bass luthier.

Thanks all. The seller removed the listing. I guess it wasn’t meant to be, but I greatly appreciate everyone’s invaluable advice.
