Entry Level Fretless?

Yeah, I am on a tight budget (cause I am buying a Fender Bassman TV). But I want to buy a cheap fretless bass just so I can noodle around and decide if, when I finally buy a truly awesome bass, it will be fretted or not.
Thinking about a Squire Fretless Jazz, but I am just here to ask if there are any other viable options in the pricerange. I already have a MiM jazz so I would prefer to get something abit different.

Pricerange is about 200-300 buckaroos.

I have not played one but Ibanez has a fretless the same price as the Squier, and its a tad bit different.

The Squier's a good choice, the best I can think of for $300. I think there's an Ibanez fretless that goes for about that price, but I haven't really heard one way or the other about its quality.

Dean makes a nice inexpensive fretless with active pickups.

Essex has fretless.

i've heard really good things about squier's vintage modified fretless j. if you can find a used one in the price-range of a new essex or ibanez, i'd recommend going that route. i don't think you can do better than a fretless j to start, even though your fretted bass is also one.

Ibanez sr300F would be my pick for nicest low priced fretless.

Used Peavey Foundation Fretless. Usually under $200, well built in the USA. There's 2 or 3 on ebay now.

Yep. My Foundation fretless was $150 used and it is the only fretless I'll ever need. Terrific sound and playability!
