Because it's a nice piece of wood....and it's a warwick, if that means anything....I don't care what bass it is, bass smashing is stupid....
boy...at that stage i bet entwhistle had 50 of them just lying around....and i bet warwick were at the edge of their seats to give him more.....no loss to him...i spose you're going to say hendrix was a moron cos he set his strat on fire...or paul simonin for smashing his precision bass? they're key moments in history lad...get over itNickthebassist said:

All guitar/bass smashing is sad. And yes, Hendrix is a moron for setting his strat alight, and Paul Simonon was a tit too....all silly *********************** in my opinion....
It's just wood with pieces of metal and plastic in it, that HE paid for, and he used as he wised. You can't say because he smashed it means that he's lesser of a person, no. He laid down the cash for it, and then choose to do that. More power to him I say, for being able to afford the new ones.

He was a combination of killer chops with musical taste and made tons of great music. A bass has no soul; who cares if he smashed it. I would have loved to be at the show he smashed that bass at. Or at the Monteray Pop Festival to see Jimmie's Strat burn. Or see Simonon smash his P bass.
I doubt he paid for it anyway, if you have a room full of instruments to come home to, why not break it if you felt like it.
