Another vote for the Broughton JoshWah. Small enclosure, top jacks, and it’s got the goods under the hood. Sounds amazing.
The Mu-FX (now Mu-Tron) Micro-Tron III is the best compact envelope filter I've ever tried.

At this point, after looking through some demos, I'm actually really liking the Mr. Black. That's the only one so far that I've listened to a demo and gone "That's actually pretty close to the sound I'm looking for" rather than "Maybe I can get what I want out of that". The sort of aggressiveness it has seems like it would be well suited to the sort of things I'd like to use it for.
Who knows, I may want to pick up something else down the line, but that's probably a discussion for another time.
Not that I'm 100% decided, I'll probably hem and haw over it until I decide I actually have the opportunity to spend the money. In the meantime, thanks for all the continued advice!

Well, that's awesome, because one should be arriving in my mailbox this afternoon. Aside from the Meatball, Discombobulator, and SuperFatman, this is one of the last on my list of filters to try. And the Microtron III is the only one in that group that suits the form-factor I'm after...
