Envelope Filters.

Have a MXR M82, but just bought a Wonderlove Deluxe. Based on the video reviews, it feels like it's right for me.....

....then again, Victor Wooten has a strange effect on me. We shall see. I can see that this will get expensive b/c I will HAVE to get a mutron for comparison. :sigh: Bye $

edit: One cool thing though is that I can ALWAYS try an effect on my guitar pedal board if it doesn't work out for the bass board and vice versa. Always a fun adventure!

The favorite I've found is the Electro Harmonix Q Tron Mini the Full size Q Tron is also quite good but pedal board space was at a premium and the mini does what I need sound wise.

Good runner up is the MXR Bass Envelope Filter. Lots of options & sounds great. I just preferred the Q Tron slightly
Those old big box Q Tron's are really good filters. Both the Q Tron's (and the EHX Enigma Q Balls come to think of it) can get very close to a Mu Tron sound, without the need to spend big money. I've also been using the Enigma again on my board quite a lot recently and had forgotten just what a flexible and underrated filter that is. I still contend also that the MXR BEF is one of the best small form filters out there, but then I haven't yet tried a Micro Tron III or Josh Wah.

Love this. I do it too. In fact, I've been using an ehx micro q tron for a few years on bass but decided I wanted to revamp my bass board (once again, staved off the gas for about two years, once again affected.)

Bought a Wonderlove old edition for $150 here, put a bunch of cheap ass clones in the loop (Valeton OC-10 Octave, Mooer Ensemble King Analog Chorus, Little Bear BS-1 Woolly Mammoth clone, and a Boos BF-2 on order.)

Was running a Malekko E.Filter for my guitar board, it does a super psychedelic low freq womp with some overdrive after it, but wanted Jerry Garcia quacks. Stuck the Micro q tron next to the e.filter and there you have it.

To the most recent poster looking for a bass envelope filter, either get a q tron (regular of you want to spend a little more, micro if you just want to give the envelope a shot) or a used Wonderlove. Those are my two favorite and I've tried a few.
