To all the folks ranting about the micro Q-Tron being quacky...

1. Are you using passive or active electronics with it?
2. Are you setting to unity gain?

The reason I ask is that I can get just about any EF pedal to quack when theres no unity and this is even more tricky when using active basses.

I've had no problems with my micro Q-Tron sounding quacky on a passive bass when at unity.

Just sayin.

I don't, I haven't even seen one in the flesh to be honest, but it looks like a great little box.

$230 or so new from Tonefactor. $180-$190 used, though you may have to be patient as they don't show up all that often.

Fun filter. Not the most "organic" sounding, but very tweakable.

Excellent octave setting but not great at anything else. Major volume boost issues I found as well. Still, it gave me GAS for better EF's!

I still need to try an EBS Bass IQ. So far I'm pretty sold on the Moogerfooger Low Pass, so I'm kind of hoping the EBS does the trick, otherwise I'm going to be very poor.

Loved my Mini Qtron but it started to squelch out on me which almost made me cry i liked it so much.

I'd put my vote to Bassballs as well. Wish they made one with some more tweakability, but it's a classic and kicks serious ass. Sounds crazy with other effects.

Seriously great tool. Very cost effective as well.

I've tried several... but, the only ones that really made me happy were the Emma DiscumBOBulator (currently on my board) & my Chunk Systems Agent 00 Funk (version 1 with 6 knobs). I've not tried them all... but, lots. Went with Emma because it's a relatively small pedal & has great tone, though I wish it were a lil more 'quacky.' It's known to have all the great sounds, yet not completely lose the tone of your instrument.

I bought my Agent 00 Funk a few years ago... seems like it was shipped new around $200, but I really can't remember at the moment.

I got the MF-101 in today and played around in it; freaking love the sounds I'm pulling from it. Nice and warm, not too quacky, perfect.

i have a 00funk and its really tweakable and great sounding

Like Mal, I am waiting for a used Discumbobulator to show up.

Overall I really like the 2Leaf but they don't seem to show up used and I can't justify the $215 for it.

Just a quick question about the Agent00Funk. Tonally is it similar to the discumbobulator or the 3Leaf Groove Reg.?

The 3Leaf is based off of the Meatball. I would say the 3Leaf is more slurpy if you get my drift.

I've got a Bassballs and a Mini Q-Tron; both are nice and quite different from eachother. However I find the Q-Tron tends to have just one sweet-spot and can need a bit of tweaking to get it; even then it can explode a little in sounds. Someone suggested placing a limiter after it; but I don't fancy that as pedal board space is so precious. So I'm now looking at the 3Leaf Groove Regulator. There's a good demo on You Tube and IMO it seems & sounds much more flexible and reliable for sweet sounds than the QTron. While considering the Groove Reg, i'm interested to find out more about some of the other envelope filters people have mentioned - none of which seem very high profile in the UK; but maybe I just don't know the right suppliers. TB is my saviour for all this extra knowledge. Thanks to you all for sharing your knowledge and experience.
