Epifani Performance Series

i tried the head at the shop last night, where nick actually ran the preamp section into the power section of the ul902 via the effect loops to better guage their respective preamps' sounds.
and to my ears, with both amps set flat, the performance head does seem a touch smoother than the uber hifi'ness of the regular UL series. doesnt quite have that open electric air of the ul902 or my ul502. and yet, the head still had that sweetened hifi epifani tone.
the treble knob adds air and detail, and the lows knob does about the same room filling/rattling lows as the ul series amps. i thought the secondary "mid-cut" knob would be a little redundant, since there's already a boost/cut mid knob there already. but soon, i realized it adds an cool dimension to the tone, and is voiced terrific w/ the performance line cabs. its like nick was reading my mind, cause the mid-cut dials out that freq i usually dial out w/ my ul502. and on the same token, gives a killer slap sound w/ said setup. pump up the regular midrange knob, and its all stout, burpy "jaco" tone.
and holy crap, its a lightweight! heck, it seemed about as light as the 2 rack SKB case next to it! nearly flipped it over my head as i first went to pick it up. and pics on the website dont do the brushed aluminum faceplate justice. really snazzy lookin'.
all in all, wouldnt be surprised if nick sold a million of these guys, cause anyone looking for a killer hifi sound that wont break the bank would easily take to the p amps.

Joker, whadduya think about the cabs? I've been eyeballing the PS112. Can you compare them to your UL112s?

Just a little excited about the PS112. And since I just caught that picture you posted in the UL902 thread...how'd the PS112 stack sound? I had a UL112, but sold it to get a JO4. (Not the worst decision I've made. Love the bass!) Can you give a little comparision or mini-review?

I had a chance to A/B the PS112 and UL112 at NAMM.The PS112's are the same as the UL112's tonal voicing but with a more extended low end. Closer to the NCY's low end. Same size just a little bit heavier, 38 lbs., 300 watts @ 4 ohms.

everything MG described is what i heard at the NYC GTG. my UL's had a nice upper end detail, while the PS had more low middy authority.

Thanks fellas! I liked the UL, but didn't get a chance to run 2x. For the money and the extra low end as a stand-alone cab, I think the PS112 is something I'll have to look at. (Based on specs, it might pair well with my EA cab if needed.)

I was getting the October date (10/6) from MF, which is next week (maybe too soon for me). Jivesound is showing stock!
The PS112 is on my short list for cabs (list of one
). Should work well with my Focus 2. Thanks to TB, I haven't bought a new cab in years. Prolly won't see too many of these on the used mkt if the UL line is any indication.

Nick brought a bunch of gear to the NYC GTG on Sunday. I was very impressed with the performance series cabs and amps. The cabs killed. Warm, powerful. Wow. The amp looked and sounded terrific. Its a no miss purchase for anyone looking to Epifani without the higher pricetag

I tried the stuff at the NYC gtg as well. Loved it. Probably will be getting a PS600/PS112 set up for the future practice/small rig.

Why do the badges look like they are blue? Did they change the design, or is your camera funny? Or were these old proto's with blue badges?
