The case has plenty of protection and a nice sized front pocket. It is slightly big to accommodate the 501 too but has a strap to hold the head in place.
As a side note I just wanted to give Nick Epifani and his staff a shoutout. After waiting a half hour after closing Nick was kind enough to show me all his new gear and try out his basses through different rigs. I was there an hour before I walked out with my new case.
