..well i want a clean deep sound..punchy for slap and gritty and dirty when needed....was looking at the 2 .12schroeder cab..peeked my intrest...but basically same price...berg would be a better choice im assuming...never used a berg b4...this marcus head should lair up nicely right?I looked thru my screenshots, I paid $350 for mine.
If you absolutely love the T310 bc you can push a ton of air out of the port....or you want to crank distortion or clanky grind without worrying then it's your huckleberry.
If you love the older script Epi cabs vs the new neo, sure.
If you drive a BMW Z3 and want the biggest thing that will fit in the passenger seat, it's good for that too.
I'd stay away from the 410 bc that's the big port dealie that I think would work against a Marcus head.
If big clean sound is your thing I'd get ahold of this member: For Sale - Bergantino AE410 - 5 Local-Going to be in LA weekend of July 7
Central Valley isn't that big a deal from Norcal.
If you're in LA then it's even better.
It's a better cab, buy once cry once.
It's a shame you missed the LDS 215 in Concord for $300.
That was a nice cab, a bit too much for my car.
I get it now...thanks for the explanation...i probably will try out the shroeder cab..but i am curious on the berg as well..im in the ie so travel is under 2hrs either oc or LA area...Think of the early genz heads with the row of ports.
This is back when the Eden Xlt was THE cab.
At some point we started to see more hifi balanced cabs get away from that scoopy 80's-90's thing.
IMO scoopy is the defining SWR sound of the era.
So is the grittier nangy rock bass sound if you look twoards GK and Ampeg of the era.
I don't want to go with a cab that gets even more scoop, I'll want to go balanced or even mid forward to drive more life out of my rig.
If the Schroeder you are talking about is this one then I'd take a demo 20mins+ and see how it works for you: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
When it gets down to 10's or 12's I'm a child of that scoopy 80's and want that 10" sound in some less extreme form.
Thats me tho.
Kringle77, my fave TB member producing clips that reference tone:
It'd be cool if you guys could work out a shootout with the Schroeder and the AE410 in 1 spot.
Neither cab seems to be moving since little cabs are all the rage now.
That's good for you, and havign 2 bass players around is good bc you hear the cab differently when someone else is playing it.
It's nice to see other people dial in with their ear as well, they might find things in your Marcus head you really like and use.
EDIT: give the last page a read from where the guy that makes cabs chimes in. Dual 1x12 Cab Recommendations
This clip really highlights the mid forward thing I = to overblowing a little when I played tenor sax.
I'd play both cabs with your Marcus head and see what's there.
I'm an SWR fan from way back, and their 12" cabs were going in the direction of where modern cabs are not necessarily flat but have that mid growl high mid sing to notes the scoopy era didn't have.
Wikipedia says Ellipses but I might be wrong. Nevertheless, the first post was almost unreadable.Do you mean ellipsis?
Too hard to read. I gave up after what may or may not have been two sentences...Hey guys..plz help me....so i purchased a t212 cab(offset.diagonal)... After alot of reading and research(kjung)...i used a bigbang mb head w this cab...and it just wasnt cutting it for me....i then read that these cabs love power..so i sold the bigbang and got the new marcus miller mb head...800w...and still i felt the cab lacking...am i missing something....we dont play super loud..but we do play outside gigs and i just feel ther is no oomph to this cab...i will say the "sound" that the amp produces w the cab is nice...clean "open" bass...airy highs...but just no beef !!...i feel or it sounds to me like when i push it...it just doesn't give any more...like its compressed....idk thoughts?
Bit more info...basses used on it..peavey cirrus..gl jazz bass...fender p bass deluxe...yamaha br614...yamaha rbx800af
Ibanez atk300...
Also...i later found out original drivers wer swapped out and it now has
UL3 dual voice coil eminence drivers...are they culprit to this sound im getting...?Help!!!..im thinking of selling and going w a t310 being sold here close by...thoughts..suggestion?
