+1 I'm not railing on the 'no bridge' as much as the fact that I would not pay for an entire power amp that I would never use. There are very few players who would need more than 900 watts into a large, efficient single cab like the Epifani410UL.

My somewhat overstated point is that I would never consider this amp since I would never use 1/2 the amp. And, even being the bass fanatic that I am, I can't think of one professional bassist I know that would need or want two 900 watt amp sections, requiring the use of two cabs. I'm sure they are out there, but in very, very small numbers.

No big deal, and if that single power amp 900 ever is released with the two pre channels... I'll be the first in line:)

Edit: +1 on your attenuator comment also.

+1...the only people I can think of that would really need that much are the guys playing big tours using a pair of 410UL's.

+1 ... and the couple of players that I personally know doing large Arena/Stadium tours don't even use backline (or use very, very small backline just to add a little 'presence and feel' to the tone)... in ears all the way.

That's exactly the point. The 'C' of the UL902C stands for concert. This is where bassists use multiple cabs. And not just a pair of UL410's @4 ohms each but also 4x410's @ 8 ohms each or some other configuration of 10's and 12's or 15's.

Gotcha! Andrew Gouche has a pic on his myspace of him playing in front of a 410UL stack, I wonder if he's pushing them with the UL902C...

Could be, I haven't seen the myspace site (can't get it at work) it but I know that a UL502 or PS600 can push 2x410UL's @ 8 ohms each. I've seen and heard it at NAMM.

On a minor side note, the new BP magazine has an add for Epifani with Oteil using a 410UL and 502. The 410UL does have the signed speaker cones, so it seems that Epi is going back to signed speaker cones for the UL line, now that the NYC is cancelled. Cool... very minor thing, but I always thought that was a cool look.

I would still like to compare my older 410UL with the wonderful B&C drivers with the newer versions with the newest Eminence Neo's. I assume they would sound similar, but my guess is there is some differences.

Has anyone done this? I can't imagine anything sounding better than the B&C's, but quite a few people 'in the know' are raving about the new Eminence Neo speakers. Just curious.

Ken, I'm not sure about this. I just got a brand spankin' new UL212 a couple of weeks ago. My dealer didn't have one in stock, but Epifani did, so they sent it right out (through the dealer). It does not have the signed cones.

Not to derail this thread any further, but my PS600 arrived yesterday. PS600 into UL212 (4 ohm)= amazing! My next gig isn't for a few weeks, but it is a killer sounding rig! No more amp gas for me! woohoo!

Cool on the 600. We will look forward to your report, since you are probably one of the first to actually own one.

I don't know about the cones either... I assume the ad in BP is accurate, so I assume they are using up current unsigned speaker stock and will then go to the signed cones. If not, whoever put together the ad should be fired:D

That's what I thought... but... big as life, there is a 410UL with signed cones (I assumed silk screened and not hand signed) in a large ad in BP... strange!

Most likely a very old picture, and probably not a UL cab I would think. I've noticed that it seems epifani has not taken a new photo in years.:D

You know... you are probably right. As a marketing person by day, I just shake my head at some of the things that company has done lately... from announcing products years before they are delivered, to strange pricing and product specs, etc., etc. Oh well, I love my old 410UL!

I sure do miss the old days of just calling Nick up on the phone and having a cab shipped from the shop:bawl:

Unfortunetly, to stay afloat in this business, sometimes you just have to make some decisions that isn't going to make everybody happy. I mean, I would have never thought I'd see musicians friend carry Accugroove, Epifani, and now Schroeder stuff! It seems you just have to give in to the mega store mentality if you want to make a dent in the market.

+1...For example, they will apparently be raising the street price or the PS600 from $999 to $1199. No big issue to me in and of itself, I understand that costs go up and there are other issues behind the scene. The problem is that the head was announced at a price of $999 almost before it was actually available in stores. Then right after it became available, the price is bumped - it just doesn't look good. In the post talking about this a few days ago guys were pretty upset over it. It seems to me that the whole problem could have been avoided if the original marketing didn't mention the price of $999. The price shouldn't be announced until the product is available.
