Epifani vs. LDS cabs

OK. I know this is not new and this has, most likely, already been done. So, I'm new to the forum and I have a question.

I have enough cash to purchase a pair of 2x10 cabs and the question is Epifani or LDS? Has anyone here used Epifani and decided to dump them in favor of LDS? Or vice versa?

Do I believe the good stuff I hear about LDS or should I cough up $1600.00 for 2 new Epiani's?

Oh yeah, I also had a Epi 1x12 (not neo) that sucked also.

I have used Avatar 2x10's for a long time and have liked them but they are getting a bit beat up. They have been trusty and give up some pretty good tone. They are not NEO.

I bought an Epifani 2x10 neo about 4 years and thought it quite sucked. I suppose they are better now.

I tried a Schroeder 1x10, 1x12 and the 12" really messed up the tone. Well constructed cab but the 12" sound is not for me.

Have owned every thing else from Ampeg to Peavey, Eden and Mesa included.

OK, your turn so talk away.[

Rather than get a 210 from LDS, I'd rather get that LDS 15/6.5 cab that's based on Greenboy's fEarful. That'll kick way more ass than a 210 and not be much bigger, if at all.

If your Avatars still sound good but look beat-up, how about recovering them/repainting them and save some cash?

Do you stack your Avatars vertically? Doing so may and reduce cross filtering, making your rig sound better with better dispersion. Something to think about.

Whatever you do, I suggest you invest in some covers/road cases to keep your cabs looking fresh.

+1 on the 15/6.5. You may be able to get away with one.

Note. If you get two, I suggest the second one be on the bottom and be a 1x15 only.

If you get a second 15/6.5, I also suggest you consider getting the 6.5 on the opposite side so when you stack them, stack the top one upside down and so the 6.5's will be next to each other.

Let us know what you decide.

I wouldn't walk on stage with 12's or 15's. I played 15's exclusively in the '70's and I got down and kissed the ground the first time I heard an array of 10's. You could not drag me away from 10's with chains. IMHO 12's and 15's still sound the same.

Beat up: I guess I just want some "new" cabs and as it is I can afford that. Now that's being honest. Unlike someone I see on TV a lot. What's his name again....?

In closing: I purchased a pair of 2x10's from LDS yesterday.

Stacking: Yes, I stack vertically and I understand the virtue of this. Although, depending on venue, I place one Horizontally on the floor and one stacked vertically on top. Sometimes total vertical stacking places me in a "bubble" where all I hear is bass. The "hybrid" version stops this and still stops phasing / cross filtering and I can still hear the rest of the band.

Oh yeah-weight!!: Don at LDS says they will weigh about 40lbs each and they are NOT neo. I must admit that the first motivation was to find lighter cabs. I am not yet sold on the neo thing so this was good news to me and actually sold me on the LDS cabs.
