hey there! i'm selling my epiphone g400 custom and someone's offered me this for it

i've never seen one like this before so have no idea about what it's like or anything. what do you guys think? apparently made in 1986

I think your guitar is worth more than that bass. I doubt if that bass would get $200 on ebay.

Epiphone RockBass. Check out completed listings on ebay for relative value. I would agree that it probably wouldn't bring $200 at auction...probably less.

i do like the looks of it

think there's any potential of a nice abss in there? maybe some mods etc or do you think i'd be best just avoiding it?

There's nothing really wrong with them...if you can tolerate the 80's style pointy headstock, on an otherwise conservative-styled jazz clone. Nothing particularly outstanding about them either...either in character or sound. Edit: could be used as a modding platform; these Epi's were made in Korea.

I checked these out back in the late 80's, when I was returning to playing from a 10 year hiatus. They were inexpensive enough...around 225 USD new. I wound deciding on a Peavey Foundation...which morphed into a used Ric when I found one at a great price...but I digress...

It's an ok bass, probably the Epi equivalent of an 80's Squier, and relating to $$$, should be considered as such. But if the guitar you're trading is worth more, you might want to trade for the bass and some cash.

i think it could be decent as far as sound but i think your guitar is worth more and that bass it not so appealing visually
