Epiphone Casady gig bag?

A Gibson CSR just gave me this helpful(?) response:

Epiphone does not make a gigbag which will fit the Jack Casady bass due to the width of the body. You might check with local music dealers to see if they can recommend an after-market gigbag which might fit. The trick will be finding one which is wide enough and long enough to accommodate your bass. If you know someone who has a heavy duty sewing machine, maybe you could commission them to custom make a gigbag. Thanks.

Gotta love Gibson.

As for a hardshell case, I have to wonder if the case for the new version of Gibson's Midtown bass might fit the Casady. Gibson revised the body shape for 2014, and it's now somewhat similar to the body shape for the Casady. It might give you another option as far as cases go.

I can't remember which thread mentioned it (search the forum for Jack Casady) but I brought it to your attention because the guy said it works great for his jc bass.
It's in stock at Sweetwater and they would very likely do a test fit for you if you ask. Good luck and enjoy your bass! I love mine so much I just bought a second one. :-)

I gotta say...I've had my Casady bass for several years now and I'd never use a gig bag with it for 2 reasons: tilt back headstock and set neck. Remember, these basses are heavier than your average acoustic guitar.

I've been carrying a Casady in a gig bag for a couple of years with no safety issues. It really depends on your circumstances but if you're the only one handling it for rehearsals and local gigs you'd have to be pretty ham-handed or unlucky to hurt it.

The bag I've been using is a stock [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] It's maybe a tad more snug on the Casady than you'd do if you were building a custom one but it works fine. It's definitely of the non-rigid variety though and not the least expensive one you'll find. Very well built though (my oldest one is ten years old and shows very little wear).

Ah, ok, sweet! I didn't know if it was a thread on this forum, or even pertaining specifically to the JC :)

I'm thinking I may roll with the Fender case, or if I can find confirmation that the World Tour bg20d fits, I may roll with that. Preferably the latter as it's half the price. If I'm loving the bass after the honeymoon, I'll definitely get the HC too.

Are you Dave Grohl? Haha

My buddie uses an dean acoustic bass gigbag. Works pretty good. I would get a custom molded one.

I can't believe no one is making one yet!
