Epiphone Casady gig bag?

Hi all,

What gig bags will fit this bass? I'm happy to look at solid options like Mono, as well as cheap options. I don't have any case right now.

I just got a very heavy duty gig bag for my 1987 Guild Pilot bass - it has a long peg head and it's hard to fit. The maker is World Tour, I got it online via Amazon, and it was a good price...it is a far better made bag than the Gibson or Fender factory bags I have with guitars...thick padding, 2 big outside zip pockets, GOOD handle and straps and 2 zippers so it opens from the middle...was around $30. Don't know if it would fit the Cassaday's wider body, but they have different models, maybe one would fit.

that's the one I bought, sitting here with my Guild in it right now...they have various other levels and sizes...this is a very good bag, and I DO NOT like gig bags..have had too many accidents over the decades.

This is by far the best bass bag I have ever seen, and the only one I would recommend. I would feel comfortable taking this on the road with my hard to find old basses.

They make guitar bags, too.

I bought a cheap Levys for mine. I think it's for a ABG. It's just okay in terms of protection. Very basic but better than nothing.

For something nice, I'd investigate whatever Lakland might have available for their semi.

*My Casady measures 16 3/4" at its widest point, and 46" long TTT.

That looks like the same bag. I def didn't/wouldn't pay $72 for it though. I got it on ebay, about $35 I think. The padding thickness is decent, but the bottom of the bag should have more beef there. One good slam down on the butt end could be trouble for a Casady.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find it cheaper on that auction site. For sure, I'll have to be extra careful if using a cheapy case like this. Hopefully I can find a decent case. There must be a ton long-scale semi-hollow bass models (and thus, a supply of cases to meet the demand).

Yeah, acoustic bass gig bags are certainly an option, I'd rather have a case that fits (but beggars can't be choosers, I suppose.)

I use gig bags all the time. Even when I've gone on the road for regional mini-tours. But for my Epiphone Jack Casady bass I have very deliberately used the hardshell case. Mind you, when I got my Casady, it came in a box. I knew that a case wasn't included and ordered that at the same time as my bass. It took some 4 - 6 weeks before I had the official Epiphone hardshell case for this bass. I don't know if they still have a serious backlog on the cases, but I know that it's been an issue in the past.

As for the safety of your bass in a gig bag? Hollowbody instruments by their very nature are a bit more fragile than solid body instruments. And that alone has made me VERY apprehensive about ever using a gig bag for my Jack Casady bass or any other hollowbody bass, too.

If you can find a gig bag that has some serious padding, look into it. The challenge you're likely to run into is find a bag that's wide enough. As for the thickness of the instruments? You should be able to find something that can accomodate it from that standpoint. The one point where you'll want to be extra careful is with the bridge. A lot of gig bags have a main storage compartment at the body. And that's where the bridge is located on the Casady. You may not be able to store much in that main compartment for fear of it causing undue stress on the bridge. Be sure to keep that in mind, too.
