Epiphone Jack Casady—Strange Pickup Issue

Ok - I know this is an old thread, but I couldn't help myself. If it's the same problem as my Jack Casady ITS THE FRIGGIN EPIPHONE LOGO.
Yea! That little metal logo they put on, with the faulty glue. It resonates with very few notes on my base and vibrates against the pick guard thing.

Try putting something over it and see if it stops the vibration. It worked for me. SUPER frustrating

I don't know if the talkbassers who had rattling problems solved them, but I have had 2 jack casady basses, a 1997 sunburst and a 2017 anniversary bass. The bass has a lot of resonance, and that in turn makes things vibrate on the bass. In dealing with my 2017, I took the pick guard off, which causes some of the vibrations, but some notes on the D string make the pickup plastic parts themselves start to vibrate and make a distorting sound (unplugged), one thing I am going to try is to remove the pickup and spray paint many coats of black primer on the pickup ring, and the pickup itself so that it's not just shinny squeaky plastic on shiny squeaky plastic.

You should also check the cabling inside the bass to make sure it is secured properly and not subject to vibrating when the bass generates notes that make certain parts vibrate. I suppose you could say these problems are caused by the success of the design, too much vibration. Easily remedied if you're just willing to use patience and imagination.

My JC also rattled. I tried tightening the screw but they didn’t grip the wood, just spun around. I took the pup off and found that on one side, the ring mount screws had blown out the wood .. the holes so close to the edge of the route. I split a round toothpick in half and superglued on the edge of the route to shore it up.

I reached into the F hole with a piece of wire and moved the pup wire around to keep it from perhaps vibrating on the body.

The pg was very close to the body (paper thickness) and could’ve been rattling. I took off the PG and put felt under the screw up by the heel which raised the PG off the body about 1/32”. Yes I like the PG on my Jack.

Jack rattled no more.
