I've just grabbed one of these in sunset yellow for €279 at a sale and will use it as the starting point for a budget Serek Midwestern-inspired tour bass.

I plan to strip the finish, replace the hardware and pickups, and refinish it in a nice black nitro or antigua burst.

Wow, nice!!!! Antigua would be stunning! As far as drop in, I seriously can't remember, it's been a while! If I have to guess, I would say yes. But I definitely had to shave of a bit of the pickguard, THAT I remember!

The Hipshot Supertone 2-point bridge is sadly not a drop-in replacement for the stock bridge in my June '23 Newport.
The distance between the bridge holes is wider than the threaded inserts.

What do you think of this new Epiphone bass which is kinda a reissue of the -61 model? I think it looks killer and good that its a short scale and really nice price too. Thinking of clicking one home from Thomann

Epiphone Newport Electric Bass Guitar - Cherry

Has anyone done a side-by-side with a '60s model? I have a '64 Newport and love it. I don't gig with it because the headstock is notorious for breaking, but I jam with it at home. Curious as to how they got the new Sidewinder to sound.
