epiphone ripper bass

Gibson just released a limited edition custom reissue of the Ripper and the Grabber but both are over $3000 which makes no sense since you can get an actual vintage Ripper for waaaay less.

All Epiphone reissues are discontinued and neither were very accurate. The first one had one single humbucker pickup (versus the original's two pickup layout) and the second one had a P pickup and a Jazz pickup. I see the second ones fairly often used but the first one comes up less often.

Ebay, CL, Used Shops and Pawn Shops are your only real bet.

Saw the p/j version at a pawn shop last year going for $300 and didn't sound NEARLY as nice as my SX p/j (which was a third of the price). Aesthetically though it was awesome, natural w/ black p/g.

With some tlc i've heard them sound pretty amazing. A friend uses one as his main giging bass.

I have the first version and it sounds great. can't say much about the accuracy in terms of is it like a Gibson or not. All i know is most who play this bass love it. They can't believe I paid $100.00 CD. Don't think I will ever sell this guitar
