Epiphone "The Vinnie" Les Paul Special bass

Does anybody know anything about this bass?It has 2 EMG humbuckers,a maple board,a flamed maple carved top and star-shaped inlays on the board,but I can't find any info online,but it definitely looks yummy.

I know this thread is a few weeks old now, but I own one, so if you've got any specific questions, let me know.

You can hear it (a bit) on this recording:

Rig in that recording was the Vinnie bass into a SansAmp PSA-1 and a TC Electronic Triple-C compressor. That MP3 is from before the song was mastered, so it's mixed but has no studio effects/compression/etc. It's also one of the only ones I didn't just play root notes on, hah. As far as technique, at the beginning of the song when the bass comes in I'm playing with fingers, the rest of the song is with a pick.

They're much sexier in person than in that picture. The flame in the wood is much more prevalent, and the fretboard definitely contrasts it quite a bit. If I could find a guitar that looked the same, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

EDIT: Sounds like that copy of the song is actually missing a channel, ha, but it still gets the point across.

yes,thank you.when exactly did this bass come out??
and why does like NO ONE have them at all? i seriously wonder if there were only a very small amount of them made(like less than 50)

I'll have to dig up my receipt. I know there weren't many sold -- I had Guitar Center locally order mine, almost a year after they were announced/released, and Epiphone said that mine was the first one any GC had ever ordered. I have no idea why they didn't sell, presumably because nobody kept one in stock for people to look at, and Vince Hornsby isn't exactly a groundbreaking bassist or anything (I mean, he basically just plays the root along with the kick drum). Don't get me wrong, the guy plays his ass off on stage, and writes great stuff, I just don't think he's a "known name" like some of the other signature instruments.

My memory's a bit hazy, but I want to say it came out around May of 2004. My birthday's at the beginning of June and I heard about it around then.

I totally created an account here just to tell everyone that I own one of these. This will probably piss you all off, because I bought it years ago trying to learn how to play bass, and i failed miserably, so I haven't touched it in years. You wanna buy it? It's got brand new strings! haha. :)
