Epiphone Thunderbird IV bass

ok i already have a vintage squier modified fretless jazz bass but right now im looking for a fretted one. my budget is 300$ and ive always liked the thunderbirds but have never really played one

i know the neck dive is a problem but im an indie, punk, alternative, ska player and do you guys think this bass can hold up to that music style? keep in mind its the 300$ epiphone thunderbird and not a gibson but is it worth the buy?

If you like your VM Fretless, consider a VM fretted? I love the VM Jaguar bass I just picked up, and it's right in your price range.

Definitely try it before you buy, but I dont see why it wouldn't work for those types of music. The tone can be a little muddy for some peoples' tastes.

I loved the tone but hated the neck and body shape. And the fact that you have to be very carefull when you re string. The bridge saddles are held down by the strings so they will fall out when you take the strings off. And the neck feels like a baseball bat. If you like the jazz bass neck you wont like the tbird bass neck. I had one for about a year but sold it for 200$ check craigslist or the tb classifieds and you might be able to get a used one cheaper.

I would vote for the Squier Jag. Cool body shape, good sound + tone and a Fender neck... the neck is the biggest issue I have with my Epi T-bird. Love the sound, but like spaz said, it's like playing on a baseball bat. Definitely try both, but IMO the Squier is a better bass.
