Epoxy vs. Polyurethane vs. Mylar for coating a fretless board

It is super thin and penetrates VERY well. dries extremely fast.
I did 2 rosewood boards with it. I prepped the boards with acetone to dry them out and applied 2 coats. The first penetrated deep, but not uniform. The second was $$$$$ (money!).

I'm working on a fretless right now, with a birdseye maple board, and I'm sorely tempted to try this. But I doubt it will beat epoxy for popping the figure of the wood.

I got some adhesive mylar and put it on the rosewood fingerboard of my fretless Jazz. Here are some sound clips to show the difference in sound:

The difference is subtle but it's there. I'm not sure I'm going to keep it on there, though. I use TI flats on all of my basses and I'm not too concerned about them damaging the fingerboard. I'm also not crazy about the feel of the mylar when I'm sliding around.
