EQ needed with a Sonic Max?

I'd say whatever suits your ears :)

I'm running a maximizer in the effects loop of my ashdown ABM500 head. It's set up like this:

Maximizer:
'bass knob' at 5
'treble knob (process?)' at 6½

Ashdown ABM500-RC:
Lows boosted slightly about 12:30 o'clock
Treble boosted to about 2:00 o'clock

Everything else set flat.

Guess that makes a smiley EQ :) But it's punchy and the treble boost gives a good amount of clarity.

Eventually you wont use the eq or the maximizer as you will come to love the tone of your bass going into a good amp set dead flat. This is where you are headed....don't resist....your getting sleepy........hahaha

Seriously! A cleaner signal path without uneccessary processing sounds so much better!

Just a wild guess here, you haven't even tried out a maximizer, right?

If you have ever tried it you would also discover that the maximizer dosn't alter your tone, but instead making the exact same tone from the instrument more full. Basically it just evens out the speed of frequenzies being pushed out of your speakers.
