eq. noise ?

Hey guys, i've been having problems with my traben. It's a chaos 4 and it plays good, yet when I play with the eq(especially mids) the bass makes so much noise that it turns me off. It has a 3 band active eq and it's got passive pup's. Pickups and the preamp are stock traben btw. Can anyone suggest something to fix the noise ? I also think that it may be because of the 15 watt Ibanez amp i have. Piece of crap :D ... Well, anyway, help please

thnx

well start here first..

Is it the cord? cords are usually the problem

How old is the battery? they can add noise when its getting to low

Do you play near and old CRT monitor or TV? they can add noise to anything

Is your house properly grounded? big problem for me since mine isnt.

Are you using a 3prong to 2prong convertor for the amps plug? also can add noise

to many variables to say what exactly is making noise.

Simple fix? Boss NS2 Noise Suppressor it will kill the noise without coloring the tone.

If the noise is only happening when you change your EQ settings on the bass, it is likely a dirty or bad potentiometer. Is the bass still under warranty? If this is a new bass, it should be dead quiet. I'd take it back to the place you bought it if you can.

If it's a used bass or out of warranty, I'd try spraying some contact cleaner in the bad pot to see if that clears it up.
