EQ settings on Acoustic b200

I currently play an Ibanez ATK200 bass through an Acoustic b200 amp. I love them both, but the one thing I can't get myself to fully understand is the EQ's. With a three-band on the bass and a six-band on the amp, I feel overwhelmed and kind of don't know where to start. I've only recently become a fan of active basses, so I guess I'm just too used to playing my old passive bass. Does anyone have any good suggestions for EQ settings on both the bass and the amp? I'm looking for a clear, balanced sound with enough bass to give it some drive, but not enough to make it sound muddy or dull. I also want some treble in there to make it sound a little bright but not hollow or twangy. Any suggestions? :bassist:

I own a similar amp (acoustic b100), so I can only speak but so much on yours. Does it have the frequency notch knob on it? I find that it works wonders for my toneshaping, much more effectively than the eq knobs on the amp. Setting it at around 2-3 oclock warms up my tone a lot, eliminating any clankiness.. Also, I set everything on my bass flat.

I hate the EQ on the Acoustic B200/Kustom KB200. I tried using the EQ to dial in the sound that I like but was never happy with the resulting tone. I bought a Sansamp BDDI and am using it to drive the power amp section..I know have a tone that I am happy with (it sounds a big ampeg-ish to me now).

I own one of these, I was playing through it about 5 minutes ago (I don't think my neighbors like me anymore (: ), beautiful amp. So there is Frequency. I still don't quite understand what that does. I set it on max because that sounds the best. Gain= growl, at least that's what I've come to understand. And all the numbers (63, 150, etc.) are the frequencies. I see it this way, 63 & 150 are the lows. 350 & 800 are the mids, and 2K & 3K are the highs. In that booklet it came with, it gives you a bunch of standard EQ settings. I hope this helps! (:

Thanks. I've been looking through the booklet, and the EQ settings are helpful. I'm playing through the "traditional" setting, but with the 5k rolled off a little bit. Sounds great. And when I play with my pick, I roll off the 2k and the 5k a little more, because, like you said, they are the highs. And as far as the frequency, I don't know what it does either, but I can tell that it controls how clangy your sound is. Turn it down and you get a more piercing sound (good for when you want the bass to cut through the mix) or turn it up to get a warm sound. Works great, but I'll have to look in to what it actually does.

Also, you can turn on the horn button on the back, and that sounds pretty cool. But right now I'm on a John Entwistle sounding kick, where I cut all the mid, play close to the neck, low action and dual humbuckers. I'm glad I could help!

First time poster... I know this thread is old but was looking for more info on these EQ settings. I realized if I turn all the EQ knobs all the way down it sounds great! I'm starting to think that having them in the off position bypasses that knob, but can't be sure.

Anyone have thoughts on that?
