EQD Special Cranker

This vid shows about how much low end loss there is on a graph. Personally I’m not really discouraged to see that steep drop at 80hz and below, but I’ve still yet to try one in person. It’s also making me curious as to how this stands up to the original Speaker Cranker in terms of retaining those low frequencies.

I haven't looked at the schematics, but I think I read somewhere that the speaker cranker and the v1 fifth gear are based on the same circuit. I assume the designs diverged a bit as they were developed into the special cranker and the v2.

I've got one (it's in the vid above). It's a cool pedal and its not "thin" sounding. It's got some thump to it and doesnt feel like you're playing through a guitar-tuned pedal (like a tubescreamer) and although it does lose some low end, I've seen much worse and i took it to rehearsal with no issues real issues but ultimately it didnt get a permanent place on my bass board it's not as hefty in the lows as i like.

YMMV and it absolutely rips on guitar

I'm into it. I keep it on all the time into an 800 RB with a 4x10. P bass w a pick. Gives a good bit of a natural sounding grit with the MORE and none More and aggressive playing that cleans up with a lighter touch. Works well in my band.
Helps get the cranked amp sound without the bandmate scowls that come with a cranked amp.
