EQDs Speaker Cranker as always on

Is anybody using an Earthquaker Devices Speaker Cranker as on always on tone enhancement? If so does it stack well with other dirt pedals after it? I'm mainly curious how this might sound with a Fuzzrocious Demon or Rat Tail since I usually always have one of these (or both) always on. Any info about the Speaker Cranker on bass would be greatly appreciated! There isn't much info about it on bass and I can't find any clips of it, so I don't have much to go off of.

Thanks @skulletwhip ! I'm using an lpb1 now but I'm finding myself wanting something better. Seems like the Speaker Cranker would be a nice replacement. Were you using the Speaker a Cranker for lower or high gain? I usually use my lpb1's knob around 10-11 o clockish, so I imagine the speaker cranker will prolly get set somewhere around there for me.

I think I had it pretty cranked up.

Keep in mind, it's not a boost pedal. Its a VERY VERY mild overdrive.

I've been thinking about getting one of these again. I think it's great for hard limiting your signal to help smooth it out and boost it (with the side effect of hard clipping diode distortion). The distortion is not filtered so you really would want to run it into something with a nice EQ. This thing sounds like any old overdrive in that it always sounds better into a dirty tube amp. Guitar pedals don't have to be the whole package because designers assume you will be running it through a raging tube amp.

That's why bass specific pedals like Darkglass are a cut above in the overdrive department because they take into account the EQ you're missing by not running through a JCM800. Anyways...I'm not a Darkglass fanboy I'm just trying to illustrate that if you want a smooth dirty boost sound then the Speaker Cranker may not be for you unless you plan on running it into another nice overdrive or dirty tube amp or an amp sim.

I want one simply because my playing is erratic and it does a nice job of limiting my signal (because of the hard clipping diodes) at the cost of a few not-entirely-nice-sounding-distorted-peaks that will get smoothed out by the rest of my chain.

I did have a question for anyone who's played one regularly. Since the control is boost only, do you have any trouble with the volume difference between on and bypassed?

I guess this might be why every one who uses one leaves it as an always on pedal.

I never had a problem with it. It doesn't actually boost signal much at all.

Our guitar player kicks it on and off fairly often.

Also, it does sound really good going into an amp that's clipping just a hair. For example, my old ass Peavey Centurion.
