How can I play my bass and speak with other musicians real-time via skype?

I have a USB headset with a mic that I use for video calls, but I don't know what I need to play my bass into my computer and have the sound as part of the skype call.

Also, do I just "share" a music app that I play my bass into?

Appreciate assistance in figuring this out.

You can't play WITH other musicians via Skype in real time. I guess you know that. Apart from this, whatever gets into your computer via an audio-interface can be transfered via Skype.

One setup: A mixer with an integrated usb-interface with a mic on one channel for speaking and your bass into the HZ-input on another channel with your bass.

Or an audio-interface with at least a HZ-input for instruments and a mic-preamp. In the Skype-setup you can choose the audio-source.

Or something like a small Zoom Handyrecorder or a MixPre-Recorder that functions as an audio-interface, too.
But in this case you would need some kind of preamp for your bass that brings the bass to line- or mic-level.

Thanks for your response.

I did some research and seems that Audiobus: Live, app-to-app audio. might be a solution for my ipad. If it meets the promise, I can use my headset on one channel and plug my bass in (with a usb interface I need to buy) and it will merge the 2 channels of sound into one. I can then send that single channel into Skype as my "mic" and the other side should get both my voice + bass. Not sure if anyone has any experience with this on TalkBass.

Is it possible to connect two audio usb-devices to an iPad at the same time? I'm using the camera connection kit since it is available but never tried an usb-hub with an iPad. Or do you use an iPad Pro with usb-c?
If it doesn't work, you would need a mic and a headphone to connect them to the interface.

So, I ended up buying a second-hand Tascam 1x2 (Invalid Link Removed) to plug into my Windows laptop and downloaded Voicemeeter (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter). This setup worked really well in my first test a couple days ago. Bass and Mic plugged into Tascam connected to laptop, with a headphone out to monitor. Voicemeeter sent the sound out during a Skype session I had with no issue, while also allowing me to hear both my bass and the Skype call without feedback loops.

There are lots of USB interfaces out there. If you have a Windows machine, I recommend checking out Voicemeeter. Couldn't figure out how to solve my use case on ipad, so still interested in solutions, if anyone has one.
