My friend Eric Udell was found unconscious in Central Park with brain stem damage, wallet & money missing. I have known Eric for his whole adult life. Nice guy, talented bass player. Pray for him. Prognosis is not good.
And later…
(Eric) may soon be taken off of life support. Eric is a good friend of mine for 35 years. Fine R&B bass player. Toured with the Marini/Cropper Blues Brothers Band and Matt "Guitar" Murphy. Prayers for his family.

Eric (Blues Brothers Band, John Scofield, Mike Stern, Blood Sweat & Tears) was one of the first bassists I saw play when I first arrived at North Texas State University. (now UNT)
He always laid down a serious groove, and it was a shock to me for him to be the first guy I heard play in the lobby of the musician's dorm.
I thought, “So, THIS is how high the bar is set around here. What the heck am I doing here?!!”
Thoughts and prayers for his family at this painful time.
