erm... How do you keep your cable secure with a Straplok?

I keep stepping over my own cable, and I always worry that I'll rip out the plug or the jack.

Once I didn't have straploks. It was easy to keep the cable secure by looping it though the strap, because the strap was snug against the butt of the body and it would keep the cable nice and tight most of the time. (That's how most pros do this AFAICS)

A few weeks ago I got tired of taking straps on and off the hard way, and put Straploks on all my basses (Dunlop). Now there's a gap between the guitar body and the strap, and the cable won't stay there...

I've used straplocks forever and never encountered this issue. Maybe use a 90deg plug to keep the cable flush to the body or a small Velcro cable-tie or drop a couple of bucks on a wireless system if all else fails.

I still put my cable through the strap/strap lock. Never had a problem.

All of my basses are equipped with Dunlop Straploks too. Yeah, there is small gap in between the bass body and the strap, but still no problem looping the cable through strap and keeping it secure there.

Hmm... Maybe this is because I usually use the Fender cloth-type cables that tend to slide more and I should simply go with the simpler plastic-covered ones...

Life is full of conflict and dilemma sometimes... sigh

I made a loop in the end of the strap and run my cable through that loop. works a treat. one could also use a hair band ('chongo' in this particular neck-o'-the-woods').

Learn to shepherd your cable. It's just a matter of giving it a little whip every now and then — with one hand, flick it out so that a loop develops and the subsequent slack gives you more room to move. After a while, when you get to know that moment when the problem occurs, it all becomes second nature, pretty much.

For a three hour gig, seems like a cable tie placed in the right position should do the trick. I seem to recall making use of a shower curtain hook at some point in the past.

I run wireless - just loop the cable around the straplok endpin. Never had an issue, even while doing 360 degree aerial stage dives.

Disclaimer: I may have never actually done a 360 degree aerial stage dive.
