Ernie Ball regular Slinky- my new "go to" strings?

It’s been a few years since I’ve tried Slinkys. I should try a set on my SBMM Ray5. I just don’t think I’ve found the perfect strings for it yet.

It’s been a few years since I’ve tried Slinkys. I should try a set on my SBMM Ray5. I just don’t think I’ve found the perfect strings for it yet.

It's really hard to test strings when good sets now can cost upwards of $40. At least we can buy Slinkys for $25 and I just lucked out that my cheapness rewarded me this time with two basses that love them. I thought I liked the D'Addario NYXL's and I do, but the Slinkys just make my BTB sing. FWIW I have DR Sunbeams on my Fender Jazz basses which seem to be very versatile, highlighted by a bit of scooped mids which is a different sound than my other basses. I did like DR Pure Blues on my TRBX605, but the Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats give it a unique sound.

This afternoon I'm going to change the strings on my TRBX605 back to Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats which I found at a discount. Otherwise they would have been $45/set. I've got two sets and just reordered one so that I have two sets on hand at any time.
