Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt strings...oh my!

Howdy!

So I bit the bullet on a fresh pack of Ernie ball cobalt slinky's for my G&L L2500 bass. I think I found one of my favorite set of round wounds. I was really impressed by DR fatbeams, mostly because of their even sound, fat bottom and crisp highs, and they last a decent amount of time with a good tone. Will see how the slinky's hold up. If they match or exceed the DR's, I'm definitely converting.

They have a really nice bell like tone, specially noticeable on my B string, which sounds amazing considering it's a 34" scale B.

Only time will tell, but if my cobalt flatwounds haven't lost their brightness at all after almost a year on my p bass...I'm hopeful these will remain bright for a while.

I just strung up my P with cobalt flatwounds. Where have those things been my entire life? With the added tension I was able to adjust the neck and string height accordingly and got probably the best setup I’ve ever had for that particular bass.

Yeah, cobalt flatwounds are pretty awesome if you're into very bright flats....or dead-ish roundwound sound with a smoother touch. I have em on my p bass and love em.

Definitely like that brightness. I enjoyed D'Addario chromes in the past but these have that zing I'm looking for in a bright flat that the chromes don't.

I've recently started using the EB cobalt slinky flatwounds on my L2500 and am loving those also. Not too far sonically from my old favourites DR nickel lo-riders, but with the feel of flats.

Love your bass and the addition of the pickguard! Did you add that yourself?
