Esh bass preamp problems

Hey Guys

1 1/2 year ago i bought my Esh bass and I am very happy with it, but some 2 months ago my pre amp started to distort.
When I play, it sounds like I play with a distortion pedal and that is a bit problematic when I play genres like Blues and Jazz.

I have changed the battery but that didn't solve my problems.

If anyone have experienced similar problems, and found a way to fix it, I would really like to hear from you

This might be a long shot, but make sure the battery contacts aren't flattened down. To make good contact, try bending the contacts up a bit. I would contact the manufacturer first.
