ESP b154DX pickup upgrades

This being my first post, please forgive me if this sounds crazy. I currently play an ESP B154DX and I'm looking for options to upgrade it. I would like know if I can get more out of it. Would changing the pickups make a huge difference? I'm being told by the sound peeps where I play that it's "really low" when compared to others and I feel i'm getting "lost in the mix". Now I know the best upgrade would be a better bass and I am saving up for it, but for now thats a no go. Any advice would be appreciated.

You may try to find pair of used EMG 35 series active pickups. Never ever look at HZ. And it looks like ESP and EMG pickups are of the same dimensions - you won't need woodwork.
P.S. If you find them ask for potenciometers, they need to be changed too!!!

This bass has active circuitry. Changing pickups could be a real challenge for a novice.

If you're getting lost in the mix, try emphasizing the mid range. The bass has a three band EQ. Explore those possibilities before dipping into your savings to upgrade a guitar you intend to replace.

Another thought: If you are not going direct, the problem might be related to the amplifier.
