Esp db/sb-4 vs epiphone t-pro humbuckers

I'm in a debate with myself right now to buy either the new thunderbird pro or ESP Phoenix bass, my only hangup is that the epiphone has a tone knob where the ESP only has two volumes and and a blend.

Does anyone have hands-on experiences with either one? If I got the Phoenix I plan on putting emgs in it eventually.

The Phoenix Pro? (800.00) or the less expensive one?

I'd think the Phoenix Pro would be a better made instrument than the Thunderbird pro (which is a great instrument btw).

If you're talking about entry level Phoenix....I'd either get the Thunderbird Pro over that or save up $$ and get the Phoenix Pro.
