Etudes

So, I need to learn and memorize a bass Etude for this audition I'm doing. I haven't heard this term before but I'm told its just French for practice method. So, I know the piece I choose for an audition should reflect what skills i have and my strong points, so i won't ask "which Etude is best for me". But I would like to know what would be a good book that has some interesting choices, or a big variety of choices for Jazz Bass. Thanks.

Etudes are usually graded musical pieces. You typically hear about Classical etude like Bach's or Simandl has some DB etudes. There are some Jazz etudes if you look around be sure to check other bass clef instruments, I think there is a good book of Jazz trombone etudes by J.J. Johnson.
