beautiful work man. I appreciate the full step by step on the scroll. Very informative I have always wanted to do that but was sort of intimidated by it. You make it look easy.

Ditto. I may even give this a try myself soon, thanks to this tutorial. Probably won't be posting any pics right off, though... I anticipate quite a few initial mistakes. Thank goodness for a well stocked scrap bin to mess around with!

The end is in sight, just as well, you get a bit weary at this stage ...
Not got as far as i hoped this weekend.
Im removing the bulk with a gouge and a round file.
I will then work the edges of each groove to reach the middle and outside edge.(hope that makes sense).

Thats it pretty much all done for this one.
Took me about forty hours , but more by hand than usual due to an unhappy bandsaw.
Enjoyed working with the maple in the end, once i got the 'feel' of it, next time it'll be with
a big slab of flamed stuff (if someone else is buying it !! lolol )

Not decided on tuners yet john, thats why no holes.... i'll do them later by vigourously rubbing with a blunt toothpick.

I rarely anticipate the completion of others work, but this one definately has my interest, especially the GA fingerboard. This has given me some ideas. Ian is doing some very cool things.

But ....
I just rough cut the neck taper into the nack blank as its easy to knock an edge off when your carving the scroll in my limited space. So next job is to route the neck profile with a template bit and a straight edge, im not looking forward to this, i dont like using a router ( u may have guessed this !) but its much easier than hand planing so..... deep breath and hope i dont waste 40 hrs of work.

I wasn't planning any electrics for this other than a piezo cable wired str to the jack tbh. Nothing fancy at all, it will need a preamp/buffer like a K&K but nothing on board, usually i wind my own mag pup, ( have a neodymium split coil on my last one) but thought id try out an alternative, will be good to experiment and compare the two.
Only other stuff will be stock elephant lug machines and some sort of stand, dunno about this yet....maybe a modified cymbal stand.
