Carving the neck....
I trace out the neck section on a board, then draw in a 60 & 30 degree tangent. This is transfered to the neck and both sections taken out, then the whole thing is rounded off.

Hogging out the top 'horn'.

There is a 7mm sandwich of rosewood between the neck & body wood which is carved as part of the neck.

It raises the FB above the body and i thought it would look cool.

Still bit of tidying up to do, but you can see what im trying to achieve

Hey jack or (should I call you sith lord jejeje), Im already thinking on the next project Lol… I was wondering if it worth to make my own Fingerboard I can find a Double bass FB for between $70 and $90, considering ebony prices and the amount of work and precision required for that job, it makes me wonder

Yes i know what you mean, if i remember correctly there is only about £20 difference between a pre-machined FB and a large piece of ebony from David Dyke here in the UK. Not really worth the bother trying to plane your own TBH.
Trouble comes when you want something a bit different like the Goncalo Alv i used on this one, had to plane this myself but hey i enjoy the challenge.

Fair bit of carving to do..
I want the FB to feel higher from the body, so i want to carve a slope down from the FB
to the edge of the body wings.

Starting on the smallest side first.
Roughing out a bevel.

Gouging out to make concave ..

Step 1 done

Finishing off the last wee bit of the pegbox and generally tidying up.
Decided to reshape the pegbox..looks much better i think ..

Using the last of my scrap cocobolo for the bridge.
It wont be so tall when i set it up ..eventually.

Plan is to put a transducer underneath.
