Double Bass EUB string angle at bridge

Prelude: I’m working on an eub refurb and have gotten to the bridge portion and will have the opportunity to play with string angle and afterlength.

I’ve noticed that it seems many eub’s seem to have a more obtuse string angle at the bridge than you would see on an acoustic, which would decrease downward pressure on the bridge somewhat. Anyone have thoughts on the dynamics and pros/cons of this? Im specifically looking at the angle from bridge to afterlength. The neck is fixed, so that part of the angle is non-negotiable. Downward pressure is probably not a very significative factor for an EUB.
I'd worry more if the angle between the bridge and tailpiece is very pronunced in comparison to the bridge-neck angle.
You may want to raise the tailpiece block to get a more equal angle on both sides.

That’s part of what I was thinking:
1) replace the bottom parts of the adjustable bridge with light wood spring bars a la bill merchant (current bits are a bit stripped/wobbly anyway, so nothing to lose here).
2) add a tailpiece block to decrease the afterlength string angle/pressure, allowing me to move the bridge and increase the scale length a bit.
 
Angle should be (almost) the same on both sides of the bridge.
Pressure is important if you don't want your E string (maybe G too) to jump out of the bridge slot. So, a bit less is OK, but not too low.
I put something under my Stagg EUB's neck to make the neck angle a bit higher (just a little bit). Might not be too healthy for the piezo wire under the bridge, but no problem since the last five years.
Fo my Clevinger I screwed an angled piece of wood to the solid body (where the bridge was screwed down before) to get an equal angle at the bridge. My one is older without the raised saddle.
BTW, I didn't like the angled foot with bowing because the bow took the EUB sidewards. Modified it to be straight in line with the body and bowing doesn't catch the instrument as much as before.
