OK, so I have been toying with the idea of building a EUB for some time now. My thoughts are to end up with something akin to the WAV4, but in a 5 string, and with both piezo and mag pickups.

A few questions:

Neck wood, ash?? Any reason not to?? Seems like electric basses are starting to use this. Lord knows it is dirt cheap. Know where I can get a "louisville slugger" woodburning stamp? :-P

Fingerboard wood, prolly rosewood for this one. While on the topic of the FB, if my plan is to not use a bow, is there a reason to have such a tightly radiused FB as uprights tend to have? I felt the Dean one, and while it has a HUGE neck, it has a fairly flat FB radius. Felt ok to me. Mine will be 41.5" scale lenth.

I have read all the stuff I have found, and know this project will include a few "choice words" on my part before the fat lady sings.

yeah, if you want a flatter radius and dont plan to bow on it, sure, id still go with something fairly tight, like 10 or 8" just to give it that eub feel, and sure quater sawn ash is perfect for necks, but, im not sure about an eub neck, i would think there would be a considerable amount more tension on a 41.5 scale bass than a 34 would have, and its a 5 string, so you might think about maple for the neck, its not too much more than ash and its awsome, not questions asked
