I have a 42 scale bass I use for classical and was wondering if you tried Spiro weich E A with Flexocore 92 D and G. Didn't miss any bottom end with the weichs and they felt good under the fingers. Flexocore 92s sounded good but a little tight on this bass so switched to Belcanto G and D. Thinking Flex 92 D G might be better on your bass.

Thanks for that advice. I've taken the EP weich E off and put on the mighty Spiro S42 mitt E. It sounds and feels great on my bass, as it does on most everybody's bass.

I've left the Perm G&D on for now since they are so dynamic and powerful. But since the Perm A didn't match the Spiro E very well, I swapped it for a Super flexible A. It's OK, but sounds like the odd man out. I think I'll put on a Spiro S42 mitt A, and then I'll have Edgar's setup.

My bass has a very wolfy A string, and I'm not sure which way to go, tension wise, to minimize it's wolfiness.

A couple months ago I had Belcanto G&D on over Spiro weichs. The BC's were kinda boring, especially compared to the Perms, but they bowed real nice. The Spiro S42 weichs were a little loose.

I might try flex 92 G&D in a couple of weeks. I wonder if they'll be as dynamic and powerful as the Perms, and a little darker?

Very different.
The 92's, in particular the D, have a good amount of damping material, and will sound like day and night vs Permanents, IMO.
