I posted an idea for the Pitch Factor on the forum, and a week later, I find out about that exact pedal.

Retail price is set to be $599. If it follows the other ___Factor pedals, it'll probably sell for $499 (which retail at that and sell for $399). Release date is set for March.

I don't know about Bass Whammy killer. Certainly could be, but the demo didn't show nearly enough to convince me and the description was lacking in detail as well.

But can it beat the HOG?

Hmm, it does some really cool stuff so I'll be keep an eye on it. Hard to tell from a short video, but it sounds a lot more like the whammy than the HOG to me- and whammy users care to chime in? I'm still perfectly happy with the hog, and at least based on that video, I won't be trading the hog in anytime soon.

Thanks for posting that, though it didn't answer many questions for me.

It always seems like the pedals I'm the most interested in are the ones where either (1) the guy demoing it gets wanktacular making it hard to actually judge the pedal or (2) it ends up being 90% talking with very little actual demoing.

I've had this bugger on pre-order since it was announced with a store in the U.S. and can't wait for it to arrive!!!

Have owned the TimeFactor (Awesome), then the Eclipse (ultra Awesome) and am now going to use the Pitchfactor as the 'heart' of my pedalboard replacing my Delay, Octave, Whammy, modulation (I don't use much of this) and even tuner.

Will let you all know how it works out once it arrives!

funny- i decided i needed a 3rd/2nd midicapable pitch shifter a couple days ago- had completely forgotten about this. not planning on ditching the others- but im sold on this. i wonder how long until it drops down to 400- and if i can wait that long. well- hope someone here gets one soon.

Howdy Mr. Pickles (and Sean ),

Think there may possibly be one or two algorithms on the pedals that aren't on the Eclipse (or variations of existing ones), but the next software update is expected shortly on the Eclipse that according to Eventide, will give all the presets of the Mod and Time factors along with the much improved pitch tracking of Pitchfactor (apparently VERY good!). Pitchfactor presets probably will be added later according to demand.

The good thing about these pedals is that they have really been aimed at the guitar/bass market so sounds have been tuned accordingly, while the Eclipse is more of a 'jack of all trades' studio dream machine that sounds amazing for all purposes but may require some tweaks to the presets for getting the 'perfect' sound with your particular instrument.

Can't wait for this pedal to arrive!

I can see a Pitchfactor covering several of my basic effect needs - delay, octave, chorus, etc. - in one unit.

BUT, instead of getting Pitch/Time/Mod Factors, why not just spring for a used Elcipse?

That was my thought in buying the Eclipse, but the reality for me was the negatives outweighed the plus points.

The negatives for me were:
It's quite a complicated beast to program
You still need to buy a midi footswitcher that will be a similar or larger size than a factor pedal (or two) at considerable extra cost
Only 2 algorithms can be used/combined at once
My rack was getting heavy and too big to fit in the car with the rest of my rig
I still needed some other pedals on the ground anyway (Compulator, Wah, Volume, Expression and tuner)
Balancing the volumes/levels via effects sends/returns takes a lot of time and needs to re-adjusted once your final stage volume is set for optimum sound
After playing around with it for ages found I would only really use the algorithms that are all in the Pitchfactor anyway......plus maybe a 'little; reverb

You can probably work out the positives for the pedal(s) in relation to the above to save me some typing! The Eclipse is fantastic though so if you have the patience, strength and money go for it!

Also, am working on a clean way of powering a Factor pedal with the rest of my pedals which I'll report on shortly too.........

The Eclipse isn't too bad to deep edit if you have the big binder it comes with on hand. It definitely helped me to find the proper algorithms in a timely manner. Using it blind has proven to be less productive IME.
