Eventide to Discontinue H9 Core/Standard, Not Adding Further Algorithms

Evidently, due to supply chain issues and component shortages, the H9 Max will soon be the only H9 produced anymore, and no further algorithms will/can be added to the Max. The H9 control store will close permanently soon. Also, if you're a current H9 Max owner, be sure to claim your free license for the H9 Plug-In Series Bundle.

I know a lot of us have been wondering about what a successor to the H9 would look like for some time now (though I'm extremely happy with my H9 Max). Perhaps this is the first step toward what is coming next, or maybe Eventide has no plans for a next gen flagship multi-effects pedal. What do you make of this news?

I've been very happy with my H9Max, that started as a standard and then I Maxed out as soon as that was available. I didn't really have any intention of buying a Core, but now I might order one if I find a good price.

I'm very pleased that the Plug-In bundle is free to me. That was very exciting news. I recently purchased Ableton 10 and have been learning its included effects and sounds. It will be nice to add sounds that I am familiar with from my pedalboard.

Super cool news for me today because I bought a core and added 13 algo's over the years and today I was able to upgrade it to max and get the vst pack which is HUGELY useful for $40!!!

In the end it actually turned out cheaper to do it this way then buy a max straight up but I think I was very lucky. I had intended to max it out eventually but in the end the 13 i chose was enough for me to work with well and the biggest limitation was it only had 20 preset slots. Getting the 128 slots is a huge thing aswell for me.

Late reply I know, but the only difference between the different H9 that are available are the algorithms. And how could these be affected by supply chains or component shortages?
Maybe delays or distortion effects are too heavy to ship?

I love the H9 and would be kind of sad, if Eventide would only offer one-trick effect pedals in the future. It made so much sense to put all the effects in one pedal and the app is really great.

My guess is that the Max makes them the most money. During a shortage they are going to use available resources to keep that supply steady.

We wish we could have all products available in perpetuity but it's just not feasible for many reasons, some of which have been mentioned. Despite what some may think, we are a relatively small company that operates out of NJ. The pandemic has greatly affected supplies for our entire industry, not to mention the devastating AKM Chip Fire Factory which has forced us to redesign some of our existing equipment. What I can tell you is that Eventide is always dedicated to discovering and/or building upon new technology (Physion, H9000) and we value all feedback whether positive or negative. We apologize to anybody that had their heart set on a Core. We encourage those to look at the value packed into the Max, considering each one of the 52 algorithms can be thought of as a dedicated effects pedal.

Of cause the Max is worth it. I used an early offering to update to a Max. All I can say is that after owning it since shortly after it was offered about 8 years ago, I still use it nearly every day and I'm still obsessed with it. Can't say that about any other multi-effects unit I ever owned and I owned some. The support from Eventide was always great - still giving us new algorithms for free after years and helping people with questions or problems on their forums. How could I miss the opportunitiy to get the H9 algorithms as plug-ins for free...

this post prompted me to visit the eventide forum. I was not aware that they were working on H9 Control 4. I downloaded the beta and it seem to be working well. Time to dig in.

I feel like if you own a H9 Max, a used core is the best pedal bargain in the world.
