Ever bought a bass that you really wanted to love?

Warwick $$ I bought around 8 years ago. Couldn't get a decent tone out of it. Mostly my fault, because I didn't really know what i was doing back then, and if I still had it i'm sure I could get it to be absolutely fine. But as much as I wanted to love it ar the time, I was pining for a Fender tone so I got rid of it. I haven't gone anywhere near humbuckers since then.

Sadowsky Metro vintage 70s 5 Jazz....so heavy...well over ten pounds...maybe 12
Sadowsky Metro vintage 5 jazz....never clicked with it....nut width , neck a bit too wide

Fender Roscoe Beck 5 ...Amazing...but neck always a bit too big
Fender Roscoe Beck 5...again.....same issue again

Purchased a then new 1991 Pewter U.S. Fender Jazz (longhorn/boner bass), and REALLY wanted to love it. I couldn't, though. It looked beautiful, but right off the bat, I had to have the neck replaced under warranty, as the truss rod did nothing (wasn't broken. just a rubbery neck that didn't respond well). I got it back and tried to love the tone. I also had an '89 MIJ Fender Precision, and a MIJ Power Jazz Bass Special, and the pewter Jazz just couldn't keep up. It sounded weak by comparison. I sold it to a friend shortly thereafter. I really tried to find a use for the sound of that bass, but I couldn't. I did use it for one day in high school jazz band, and a picture of me with it made the yearbook, though. Like I said, cool looking bass, but I just didn't like that sound at all.

I had a marco mv4 that i wanted to love, but i didnt.
Stingray classic that was gorgeous but didnt love it either.
Got a DJ4 that i DID love, but traded because im not a collector and wanted to try something else.
Sometimes i wish i would have waited until now to get some of the basses ive gone through. Perhaps i could appreciate them more.
