Ever changed your strap placement?

Just looking to get some input from anyone who has a bass with a non traditional strap placement.

I don't have any screws in this bass yet but it's very light in the neck and I was thinking about how non traditional placements might affect (effect?) how the bass hangs.

I'm asking this because it looks like if I placed the screws in the traditional spots the screw in the upper horn would be vulnerable to bending and I don't want that. Has anyone changed it themselves and never looked back?

On most of my guitars back in the day I put the front strap screw on the back, near the neck joint. It made the guitar hang at a better angle (for my style of playing) at about 45 degrees, but it also made it tip forward a bit, which may be uncomfortable on some guitars. I'm considering doing it on my SR705, but haven't gotten around to doing it. In any case, remember to drill a suitable pilot hole before screwing the screws in.

I frequently use the strap button location choices BC Rich goes by. Strap buttons on back of the body near the top. One at rear one at front. This prevents the strap being in the way for wearing bass and guitar low without it being against inner leg. In some cases like with my esp f 154 I left front strap button on front of top horn and added 2nd strap button to rear of body near the top. Unless you have a bass or guitaqr with very thin upper horn and soft wood, there should be no bending. Pointy upper horn like warlocks have negates possibility of useing that location. So BC Rich placed that on on back of body. This position so long as is high on the body (not sg style with it by neck) prevents tendancy for body to want to pitch forward away from you. The low postion of traditional rear strap button just adds to this forward pitch tendency. Whereas moveing it toward rear of body near top prevents that and keeps strap from being where inner leg is as rest for instrument when playing with instrument worn low and pointing upward some.
