Was up way too late and only got about 2 hours of sleep before having to take the kids to the bus stop. It was hot and I was so tired I got terribly nauseous- leaned over in case I was going to get sick and woke up with my face on the sidewalk. Got my fingers scraped up and a bump on my head from hitting it on a car door on the way down :D I had that feeling once before when overtired but didn't pass out- this was the first time I ever fainted.

What's your fainting story?

I had strep throat really bad once when I was in college and I was talking to some friends while I was sitting on the hood of my car. Same thing happened i felt really nauseated, leaned forward and woke up with one of my buddy's shaking my face trying to get me to come around. Had the same thing happen about 10 years later. Really high fever, sitting on the toilet while my wife was standing next to me and I just punched out. Freaked her out. But all was okay in the end. The most unsettling thing to me after both these occasions was just thinking "Hmm, I guess this is kind of what dying is like. One minute your standing there, the next... not so much."

i was crossing the street in century city when i saw a car barreling down on me very fast (65mph, it turned out). i realized there was no way i could move that fast; i fainted, and the car hit me before i hit the ground.

btw, there's a good chance that fainting is the reason i'm not dead, as when the car hit me, i was totally limp.

the only other time i fainted, i was running a high fever. i had to go to work, as they said everyone was out and if i didn't come in, they'd fire me. and while moving some stuff for them, i passed out and they sent me home.

Been knocked cold a few times but only fainted once. It was the weirdest feeling.

It was also totally my fault. I got out of a hot tub I'd probably been in too long, and was feeling a touch woozy. Naturally I jumped into the swimming pool to cool off and wake up. Immediately I had a sense of being disembodied - and with my last two functioning brain cells I thought 'I gotta get out of here if I can.' I did, walked over to the wall, and according to witnesses sort of melted down it until I was on the floor.

I can't say I felt fine promptly. I was more than a little off for the rest of the weekend.

Three times, two were drug assisted. First time was after having my wisdom teeth removed. I got put under like surgery because they cut them out of my gums. When I got home I got up to go to the rest room and passed out. Second time I hadn't eaten all day and got light headed and hit the floor waiting in line at subway. Third I took too big a hit off of a bong and passed out from coughing.

Huh. So this is kind of like why drunk drivers get hurt less badly than their crash victims. The drunks are flopsical and relaxed; the victims are freaked out and tense.

Glad you're ok. Sheesh!

This is more so getting KO'd, but still.

Was playing touch football behind the high school, just for fun (I didn't play football for the team or anything, this was just my friends and I getting together). My one friend was housing an Indonesian exchange student who was playing with us, huge dude, probably 6"5 or so, and I'm about 6"4 for comparison. We're on opposite teams, and we happened to run headfirst into each other at full speed without looking. One moment I'm running looking for the pass, next i'm coming too on the grass in immense pain and a very bloody forehead. Somehow, the exchange student didn't have a scratch. I had to go lay down next to the field and try to stave off the impending hemorrhage while everyone else played it out. Ended up having to hang out at the school a few hours until I felt aware enough to drive home, then spent the rest of the day on the couch. Totally jacked me up for several days, I've never been hit that hard, before or since.

Had a handful of times I 'came to' in a weird position on the floor at home, including once with paramedics over me in my wilder days.

@Bryan R. Tyler, I'd get that checked out to find out why that happened ... doesn't sound standard. Best wishes

Yes. I'd just had some minor outpatient surgery that was very unpleasant. That night I had to get up about 2AM to go to the bathroom and I literally passed out on the bathroom floor. It happened so quickly there was nothing I could do to prevent it. It was kind of scary actually.

As a kid I was petrified of dentists. Like a phobia. One time when I was about 12 I passed out in the dentist chair right after they shot me in the gums with Novocain. The dentist's name was Dr. Arakawa. I remember this like it happened today. lol. Apparently Dr. Arakawa did a good job on the fillings because 50+ years later I still have them.

YIKES!...I would get some blood work done and test your blood pressure!

TMB

Funny thing is that I'm the healthiest I've been in years. Just too much movement on no sleep in the heat I guess.

That or sometimes I'm just too awesome to even be around myself. I'm gonna go with that one.
