the best chords i ever hear,was made with a four string bass,ex,Stu,Jaco,Sheenan,Manring etc,etc and also when i have my 5 string i play nice but my style of play was a 4 string set up basically,ok bad english but everybody can understand me..really?

+1. Chords on bass aren't about how high in pitch you can get them, it's about good voice leading. Chordal comping on bass in jazz is very easy on a 4-string, you just have to know how to voice things. Same with most other styles really, just tap and make sure you have at least one bass voice and a couple much higher voices.

I'm just going by what people tell me. I personally think i'm garbage. So I can pratice more to get better. And in response to your questions.

1) I'm 18
2) Yes, I think my hands are fully developed
3) I live in Niagara Falls, and i would rather not disclose what school I goto. For safe reasons
4) I hate 5-strings. I don't know why, and it might not make much sense. but I play one at school, and my friends all play 5s, and i Just hate it. I played a 6 at a local music store and fell in love. Who knows?

I dont know but personally I dont think more strings = more skill.

You can be just as challanged improving on a 4 or 5. but if strings is what you want, go for it.

if you want 6 strings buy a guitar

Doesn't have to "make sense" (BTW, according to who?). To each his own. Someone else said play what inspires you. Sage advice... even if it's a dang washtub with a broomstick and a piece of twine.

Sounds to me like you just answered your own question, and Conklin is not the only extended bass manufacturer that makes kicka$$ basses, either. Just keep lookin' until you find "the one" and get it.
