Everything fine with my MM Stingray?

I am going to agree with just dirty. The maple board on my sterling gets dirty over time. I give it a cleaning when I change the strings. Lots of products out there to take care of the job. The line is where the finish on the headstock ends. The neck is not finished, just oiled and waxed.

Since when does hand grime stop with a straight, even line on the back of neck?

And why is there an unstained oval shaped area around the 3rd and fifth fret dots?

Music Man headstocks have a glossy finish, but the neck is bare. That line is where the gloss ends. The oval however looks like someone may have had a fret sticker there or something. I had an EBMM Sterling with a maple neck and, while mine never got anywhere near that bad, that thing picked up dirt like crazy. We used to practice in a basement and my cables would be all dirty and dusty. I always keep my hands clean and wipe down my bass after use, but somehow that thing still managed to pick up some dirt around my most played frets, and the back of the neck was noticeably darker than the headstock. Not that dark though.

Hi. Can you please have a look on my Stingray? It's from 1995, but never seen a similar one for sale. I mean the neck looks different from what i found searching through old ads. Is it okey, or something is wrong with it? Thanks
