FWIW, I'd never buy a bass based on what a band wants me to play unless they pay for it, even then, it must play the way I need it to play. Around here, I don't know of many bands that stick together without personnel rotation. The band that didn't even let me plug in my Peavey may have made tens of dollars, but they never really got off the ground, which wouldn't have paid for anything.

Without knowing the specifics, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that "no Peavey" band sounds like a bunch of narrow-minded amateurs. Like Nickybass said above, they should evaluate you on your talent. Besides, I've seen your arsenal, surely there's something in there that would do the job!
