Looking to get a preamp pedal to enhance the tone of my passive jazz bass, especially since it goes through a couple of handfulls of effects before it reaches the amp. Just wondering if there are any major character differences between these 2 pedals- if not the Tri Logic seems to be the clear choice as it has more features. Also wondering about placement of a pedal of this nature- is it one of those things that should to be first in line? Or is like everything else- up to me? I'm thinking after my compressor to replenish some lows.

EWS Tri Logic 2 VS Xotic Bass RC Booster

I own an EWS tri-logic pedal. I place mine after my compressor (Keeley 4-knob) but before my BBE Sonic Stomp and Analogman Chorus. I like the pedal but the treble buzzes a lot. Fortunately I don't use a lot of treble. If I did I would probably use a different preamp.

I've always played an active bass, but recently I've bought my first passive. I love the sound of it. The thing is that playing an active bass for so long, I've gotten used to how hot it is, so I'm looking for a something to boost my signal without changing the voice of my guitar. The bass booster fits the bill. On the other hand it seems the tri-logic can do the same thing plus a little more and with a slightly cheaper price tag. So pretty much same question as the op. What are the major differences in the two?

While it's prbably not what you're after, the Eden WTDI's bypass is buffered and sounds great.
For probably less than either of those 2 pedals you could have a great pre/DI that has a very useful compressor. If you're just looking for something to help your pedalboard, a unity gain pre/buffer would be a safe bet.
I'd be saving my cash for an SFX Thumpinator or fdeck rather than a pedal pre for clean gain but you'll probably like any of those.

Thanks for the replies. I do like MXR for it's simplicity, but I do like how the other two have the option of controlling the sound a little if I have to and there are not too many controls to over complicate things like the Eden. Also I really don't use any other pedals besides a tuner. Usually I don't even have it hooked up in line.
