Exactly how much does your Fender bass really weigh?

Yeah I figure if I can sit on it for 5-10 years it'll finally be worth a decent sum, but that doesn't help me playing it now. For less $$ I coulda gotten a HW1 and not worried about keeping it stock or adding a bridge pickup. I do fear trading it away and 5-10 years down the line wishing I still had it (happened with my 2 previous P basses and Sabre bass).

But back on track if I wear this P a while and twist around for something my back let's me know it's not pleased. That and the hardshell case together are crazy heavy.

my jazz is 13.2 lbs. its a mexi jazz with a badass bridge and stack knobs. :)

Pino Palladino Precision Bass (has covers on it and is fretless)=8.8 lbs

57 Reissue P-Bass (AV series) (covers)=9.3 lbs

62 Reissue P-bass (AV series) (covers)= 8.7 lbs

58 P-bass (covers, brass saddles, ash body)= 11.8 lbs

Jaguar Frankenbass (brass bridge, dual P pickups, nitro refin.)= 10.1 lbs

Fender Highway P-Bass= 8.1 lbs

Fender Parts P-bass (DiMarzio Model One neck pup, Lindy Fralin P pups, Fender Kluson style tuners, Hipshot Drop-D Extender, Brass Bridge and saddles, Alder Body)= 7.9/8 lbs

The parts bass is 7.9/8 because the bathroom scale kept jumping between the two. Ironically, even with all the extra junk, it my lightest bass. :eyebrow::confused:

:smug: Well, it my first attempt at this thread (earlier today) did have a poll. What I didn't realise, until I'd finish posting it :rolleyes:, is that there is no possibility for people to vote for multiples of the same weight (e.g. both of my Fenders are almost the same weight, but I could have only voted in the "11.0 - 11.5lbs" catagory once :hmm:). So, I asked the Mods to delete it.

The other flaw with that idea, was that you don't really know what people are voting for (i.e. the year and model of the bass). Nope, I'm afraid that this is the only way to get the right information accross, as far as I can see.

As it for it "getting old 5 posts in" :smug:, maybe for some that's true. As for me, I'm really interested in all of the details and the more I read, the better overview I get of the whole topic - so please, don't anyone stop posting on my account :D.

Any more stats for me :hyper: ?

:eek: Wow! I'm building a "parts" Jazz Bass at the moment and I weighed all of the parts (in a bag ;)) today - 9.7lbs, that's OK :). But, 5lbs of that is the unfurnished alder body :hmm:. That felt really light, too.

I had a '97/98 Geddy Lee that weighed at least 10 lbs.
I like lighter ones.

Wow, 7lbs, that really is light - I don't think I've even seen a 7lb Sadowsky :confused:.
